Significant Retail Letting in Huddersfield Town Centre
L & C Investments Ltd has retained Walker Singleton Chartered Surveyors for the largest retail letting in Huddersfield for more than 5 years. The space has been let to Poundstretcher.
The unit, which is on Trinity Street was formerly occupied by Love Sofas, is adjacent to Iceland and has been empty for around 12 months. The property offers Poundstretcher over 8,000 sf ft of retail space prominently sited on a main arterial road into the town centre adjacent to travel hubs and parking.
Simon Eatough, asset manager at LCP Group who manage the scheme, said: “We are pleased that this prominent retail unit, which is close to the town centre and has good public transport and parking links, will be under occupancy once again. As landlords, we are committed to investing in our portfolios, for the benefit of local communities, and are confident that this will be a great asset for the town.”
Ross Thornton, commercial property surveyor at Walker Singleton commented “News tends to focus on the doom and gloom of the high street and whilst there is no avoiding it is in difficult times there remain strong positives which, with the support of corporate landlords such as L&C in this instance and the Council’s underlying commitments, still draws in occupiers.” He added “between ourselves and our associated company Hanson’s Chartered Surveyors we are retained on the majority of available retail space around the town which provides us with an unparalleled overview of the market and current activity.”
Poundstretcher has more than 400 stores nationwide and this new site joins a wider roll-out of opening and rebranding to Bargain Buys.
