Huddersfield Carpet Retailer to Close after 52 Years of Trade
PP Marron Carpets Limited located at Waterloo have closed their doors for the very last time. Two generations of the Marron family have served scores of homes and businesses since 1968 and are well renowned throughout the region. Their strapline, ‘We Buy By the Mile, you Save by the Yard’ is a familiar statement to many.
Attempts were made to sell the business as a going concern without success leading to a position whereby the Director, with all orders fulfilled and carpets fitted in time for the festive period, made the difficult decision to cease trade on Christmas Eve. Huddersfield based Insolvency Practitioners, Poppleton and Appleby are instructed to place the Company into Liquidation.
An auction sale of all the remaining stock and fittings is being prepared by auctioneers, Walker Singleton, and due to take place later this month. Daniel Hey, Director at Walker Singleton commented ‘Marron’s shop at Waterloo junction has been a landmark for decades. During our time on site many customers have visited and lamented the loss of the family friendly service they always received. It is testament to the family that the stock that remains is meticulously stock controlled and all of lengths, quality and style where it would be hard not to find something to fit most requirements. Our auction will list rolls individually to allow bidders to bid and buy for usable room and above size carpets. I am confident the auction will draw high levels of interest given the business well respected name”.
