Buyer sought for 160 year old Cumbrian newspaper
Posted: 05/02/2020
Following the announcement of the appointment of administrators at the Cumberland & Westmorland Herald newspaper a buyer is now being actively sought to take the reins at what has been the bastion of news delivery to the residents of East Cumbria for over 160 years.
Walker Singleton are working in conjunction with the administrators, KPMG, to seek out and advance interest. Stephen Jones, Director of Machinery and Business Assets commented “Despite a recognised move to digital media, rural and semi-isolated areas, such as the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales still place high regard and trust in their local newspaper. I hope a party identifies the value in the service the newspaper provides the geographic area and how combining the history and value in the title with modern efficiencies can create a workable model to allow the Herald to continue.” He added “There are time pressures and I invite anyone with an interest to contact me directly via our company website www.walkersingleton.co.uk where further details are available.”
